Those of us that are lucky enough to be blessed with a long life are sure to also be cursed with face and neck wrinkles. Luckily, there are some things that you can do to fight back. Getting rid of wrinkles begins with an understanding of wrinkle formation.
There are three primary factors that contribute to wrinkle formation. Exploring each one will help you to better understand wrinkle formation.
First, the UV rays that are in direct sunlight allow the formation of free radicals on your skin. These free radicals attack and damage your skin cells. Crows feet around the corner of the eyes is usually the first sign of free radical damage. Wearing a good (SPF 30+) sun screen will limit free radical formation.
Collagen, a naturally occurring skin protein, controls your skin’s elasticity. Collagen production will begin to diminish after you reach the age of thirty and continue for the rest of your life. Using a collagen-rich skin care product will be the best defense against collagen loss.
Another important skin protein is elastin which binds the different dermal layers of your skin together. Elastins will become dry and brittle with age, causing “folds” in your skin. Choose a skin care product containing evening primrose oil or shea butter to limit these problems.
To be effective, your skin care product should contain some other things. It must contain anti-oxidant to fight free radicals. A skin tightener like serum albumen is also highly desirable. And, try to find a product that contains an ingredient to stimulate collagen production, such as Matrixyl.
